TOWNSVILLE ROTARY MARKETS
The health of our stallholders, volunteers and the public is important to us, and Townsville Rotary Markets are COVID Safe events. To ensure the health of all those involved we have made some changes and look forward to having you join us in a safe and healthy environment. Your understanding and continued support is appreciated.
Townsville Rotary Markets coordinates some of Townsville’s favourite markets including the Strand Night Markets, the Rotary Mega Market and the Willows Sunday morning market. The money raised by these markets goes straight back into supporting the local Townsville community via the 10 Rotary clubs.
The profits from our local markets go directly back into the local Townsville community. In 2019-20, we donated over $291,000 to the local and international community. Unfortunately due to COVID our donations were significantly affected compared to previous years, but it still brought us to a recent milestone – over $1.1 million have gone into the community since 2017!
The various clubs in Townsville have made contributions to a huge number of organisations including; sporting clubs and associations, schools and youth services, domestic violence services, Meals on Wheels, Food Relief NQ, Mission to Seafarers, Guide Dogs Australia, nursing homes, bush fire and disaster appeals, palliative care, Gluyas Lodge, Ronald McDonald house, Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul society, Polio Plus and RAWCS.
Rotary International is a worldwide organisation of more than 1.2 million members who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. There are over 34,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world. Our clubs are non-political, non-religious and open to all cultures, races and creeds. Rotary’s main creed is service – to the community, in the workplace and around the world.
